Toenail Cutting

Our Tonic service cuts toenails and fingernails in your own home or at a walk-in clinic, for people who struggle to manage their nails themselves.

Who is this for?

  • People who find it hard to cut their own toenails or fingernails
  • Older people who want their nails cut safely at home
  • People with diabetes (yes, we can cut your nails)
  • People who take blood thinners, at home with our specially trained cutter
  • Anyone in Basildon, Billericay or Wickford who becomes a member

Tonic is our nail cutting service. One of our nail cutters comes to your home, Monday to Friday, and cuts your toenails and fingernails in comfort and safety. Our cutters are NHS trained and have many years of experience with nail cutting and with helping older people.

Most people have a visit every six weeks, but we can fit the visits around what suits you.

What to expect

You do not need to soak your feet or use any cream before a visit. If you have a towel you would like us to use, have it ready; the cutter brings everything else.

There are a few health conditions that mean we cannot cut your nails. The registration form lists them. If you are not sure, call us on 01268 294334 and ask.

Please note: If you have diabetes, we can still cut your nails. If you take blood thinners, we can cut them at home with our specially trained cutter.

If you take blood thinners

We can now cut the nails of people who take blood-thinning medication. These visits are at home, with our specially trained cutter. Please tell us about your medication when you book, so we send the right person.

Walk-in clinics

If you can get out and about, you can come to one of our walk-in clinics instead of having a home visit. We hold them at:

  • The George Hurd Centre, Basildon

  • King Edward Community Centre, Laindon

  • The Chantry Centre, Billericay

  • Shotgate Baptist Church, Wickford

Call us on 01268 294334 for the dates and times of the next clinic near you.

Not sure if this is right for you?

Call us and we will talk it through. If we cannot help, we will point you to someone who can.

How much does it cost?

You pay a yearly membership plus a charge for each visit. We take card payments.
